Haiti fundraiser: Portraits of Tilden + family
Back in January, my dearest friend Billy Shih did something amazing for his birthday. He inspired friends, family members, and strangers to make a difference when Haiti was struck by a tragic force leaving the area in ruins. Billy stepped up and helped raise over $16,000 from over 100 individual in donations for Doctors without Borders. How did he do it? Well read below from an old family friend, Jamie Hsu:
I think this is a great story, because I remember how I was 10+ years ago, and I was not as selfless.
Back when Haiti experienced that devastating, Kevin Wong (www.kvwphoto.com) and some of his friends wanted to find a way to procure donations for relief efforts to Haiti. They started pimping themselves out to help people move or “whatever” in exchange for donations.
I have known Kevin all of his life as we grew up as family friends. And I know that Kevin is an extremely talented photographer.
So in exchange for a donation to Doctors Without Borders, Kevin agreed to take some family photos for us.
We went for the Fun Forest as the setting because of its impending closure.
Thank you Kevin for capturing these for us. Treasure!
Again friends, it’s www.kvwphoto.com. He’s local and he’s available for you and your family.
***Edited to add: They raised over $15,000!

Meredith + Matt Meyer 09.04.2010 teaser
Meredith and I met during Julie and Will’s wedding last year in July at Nantucket. Our friendship had turned into a relationship that brought me to one special day shared between Meredith and her amazing husband, Matt Meyers. We rode in limosines and Escalades to take photos at UW that brought back memories of where they first met as students over the summer. It was a day meant to be more than just a wedding day, but a marriage between two families. Congratulations again you two!
Special thanks to Maxine Toh for second shooting and John Taing and Stephen Giang for running another successful photo booth!

Tying the knot: Lytang + Soleil Kelley
Lytang and Soleil made their travels back home to Seattle where they held their marriage in front of friends and family. This wedding in particular was very special because Lytang is actually the older sister to one of my best friends, John Taing, who is also my second shooter. This family showed so much love throughout the day that it made me pause for a moment or two. It was an absolute pleasure to photograph this memorable celebration from beginning to end. There was also a special treat for all of us as we got to listen to Luc and the Lovingtons perform live during the reception at Farestart. Soleil joins the band as one of their newest members. August 1st was a celebration for many occasions, no doubt. Even though my body may have trembled a couple times, my heart goes out to you two with the best of wishes. Cheers.
Ceremony: Taing Residence
Vows: Golden Gardens (North end)
Reception: Farestart Restaurant

Booth Blasting: Meredith + Matt 09.04.2010
Had an amazing weekend at the Arctic Club Hotel down in Pioneer Square. Meredith and Matt spent their wonderful day and night with family and friends from all across the nation. It was more of a reunion than just a wedding day for everyone. We brought in the photo booth to let the guests let loose and have a little extra fun between meals. Everyone had so much fun, I’m pretty sure we’re down a couple boas and prop, but all in the name of fun, right?! Let’s do it again!

Say CHEESE!
