Fun bokeh shapes

Two years ago, before any of this “business” stuff started, my friends and I gathered to take photos of random things. You name it, flowers, clouds, windows, puddles and kittens. On one of those ocassions, Linda showed us how we could have fun with changing the shape of bokeh. Bokeh is a Japanese term that describes the “blurred background” effect you commonly find in SLR cameras. Using a modified hood, you can shape points of light to whatever you want! Flash forward to this past weekend, we all got together to try it out ourselves as part of a reunion.

Well, sort of.

You see, it rained once sunset hit Gasworks, which caused us to retreat to Shultzy’s for a little happy hour. BUT! I did manage to sneak a couple shots for you just because I liked my cut out of….

…butterflies!

On set with Ping crew, a preview of the video shoot

Last week I got to hang out with a wicked crew composed of talented people in modeling, fashion, film and advertising. We got together to help out with the Ping project, a concept garment, designed to help the rest of us imagine a future where wearable technology can be beautiful hot and functional. The video shoot was done to create a motion piece to communicate what that future might look like. Here are some on set photos showing some of the process behind the scene.

Jennifer and Byung’s Engagement

Engaged. Happy. Lovely. Check out these two, Jennifer and Byung, with a small cameo from Rocco, your friendly neighborhood chihuahua.

Family fun during Easter Sunday

Yesterday was Easter Sunday. It was the first time in a long time that both families, Lailey and Wong, gathered together to enjoy good food and good company. We tackled PJ’s “graduation” breakfast, shared stories and watched the kids bounce off the walls from their sugar high. Mimosas in one hand, and my camera in the other, I was able to capture a few funnier moments as the kids ran around searching for colorful eggs filled with cavity inducing amazingness.

I hope everyone else had a wonderful Sunday with loved ones. =)

Jennifer and Byung’s Engagement Photo Preview

Jennifer and Byung are the happy recipients of my Haiti wedding package. They were extremely generous by donating $1,000 to Doctors without Borders and so we ventured off around Seattle to take their engagement photos! Our day consisted of three main locations including the Seattle Public Library, University of Washington and their rooftop on Queen Anne. Photos will be going up soon, but here are a few photos you can sneak a peek:

Baby Layla now 4 months old

Aaaaand we’re back with Cori and Matt, except this time the focus was baby Layla Trahan. If you recall, it was only a few short months ago that I was taking photos of Layla in the form of a belly. She was so cooperative and calm for the majority of the session, which I think we were all grateful for, making the whole process a breeze. ;) We made it through three different outfits, with only one casualty by spit. Enjoy the monkeys and tutu!
