Amy Chang + Jonathan Golob engagement preview

Excitement is building up for Amy and Jonathan as their special day quickly approaches. But in the meantime, we hit the streets this past Sunday to South Lake Union to visit Amy’s lab at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center for some colorful explorations. Even if we are in our twenties, who says we still can’t have with test tubes and water colors?

More photos will be up soon. I’ll give you some hints: textured walls, cherry blossoms, bamboo and a whole lot of laughing. I can’t wait to share!

Melinda and Ryan’s Engagement

We were staying warm just around the corner of Belmont and Pine inside Stumptown Coffee. Melinda and Ryan were kind enough to meet with me to talk about themselves and how they found each other. I could already tell they had amazing chemistry just by how much they laughed and finished each other’s sentences. Something that helps me is understanding what kind of couple they are so that I can take photos of them in that way. Do they like candids? are they the outdoor type? One question I asked was, “how would your friends describe you two?” Their response? “We’re a unit. Always together.” Beautiful. Together, including their GORGEOUS chocolate lab, we took to the park in Greenlake and Elliot Bay Park.

Kimmy and Khang’s New York City engagement set!

The stars aligned when Kimmy and Khang were traveling to New York on the same weekend as my visit! What else to do but spend the afternoon walking around Little Italy and Time Square to take some engagement photos. =)

Jennifer and Byung are the happy recipients of my Haiti wedding package. They were extremely generous by donating $1,000 to Doctors without Borders and so we ventured off around Seattle to take their engagement photos! Our day consisted of three main locations including the Seattle Public Library, University of Washington and their rooftop on Queen Anne. Photos will be going up soon, but here are a few photos you can sneak a peek:

It only took three passes to get to Treehouse Point, and it was worth every U-turn. Located in Issaquah (east of Seattle), Treehouse Point makes a great spot for deep woodsy exploration with a hint of magic. If you’re looking for something adventurous – you know, Lord of the Rings meets Tarzan sort of thing. =) Never fear, we kept it classy too. I definitely recommend it not only as a place for photos, but also as a place for the weekend if you want to get away from all the busy urban noise without having to drive out too far.

So thank you Sara for finding this amazing place for us to hang out and take photos. A special thank you for braving the weather and all the steep paths we walked through to get to all the special little places!

Felise + Ben: 11.12.2009 Engagement Shoot

“Bring your rain boots and bring an umbrella” I thought. Fortunately our luck brought us a nice Seattle overcast that scared away most of the tourists. Felise, Ben and I paid a visit to one of the more colorful historical spots in the city: the Gum Wall. We made our way to the Gum Wall to later discover two other wedding parties getting their photos taken as well. Who knew it was so popular?! In any case, Felise and Ben had something no other group had.. bubble gum! The ultimate prop for our occasion.

Once we literally wrapped up at the gum wall, we walked through Pike Place market and over to Olympic Sculpture Park for a fun last stop. Thank you Felise and Ben for being such amazing people. I don’t think I could have asked for a better “wave!”
